In February of 1955, Coco Chanel introduced her very first handbag, named the 2.55 for the date it was created. Maybe it was Chanel's already established fame or maybe just the sleek simplicity of the bag (an effortless quilted leather bag with a chain strap), but the pieces were an instant hit.
